It was a Cup week in much of Europe, with many of the largest men’s leagues heading to the pitch for knockouts where a star performance can be the difference between advancement and the end of a club’s trophy campaign. On the back of these high stakes, the EA FC 25 Team of the Week arrives loaded with the men and women who showed out over the last week. Check out highlights of some of the key performances from the last week of world football, and see who isn’t there, but probably should be.

The Frauen Bundesliga is no stranger to some lopsided scorelines, with the league cleanly broken at the midpoint into a group of four Europe chasers, a four team mid-table, and four clubs struggling to win a point per game. What’s less common is one-woman four-goal performances in matches between teams of a similar level, which only makes Vanessa Fudalla’s day for RB Leipzig even more impressive.

Fudalla bagged two assists to go with both the first and last entries in this week’s Frauen Bundesliga’s Top-5 goals above. While the lovely feed for her first assist is a helper any player would be pleased to have made, it was her goals that stole the show with Fudalla lashing home a pair of long-range blasts. The first gave Leipzig the lead early when Fudalla picked up a loose ball clear through the heart of the field, took two touches to get into position, then powered home the finish. Her second would comfortably have been many players’ best goal of the year, but instead was only Fudalla’s second best in an hour as the Bremen defense failed to close her down, allowing her to once again rip a shot with her left foot into the left corner.

It wasn’t just the women who had a great week for RB Leipzig as — like Arsenal last week — the German side sees a representative of both its women and men’s teams on this week’s list. With a disastrous Champions League performance behind them, the RB side can now turn its full attention to a much-stronger Bundesliga campaign. Currently sitting in fourth — but with the pressure on as chasers VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg picked up three points each — it was critical for Leipzig to keep pace when welcoming bottom-half FC St. Pauli to Red Bull Arena.

It was Xavi Simons who stole the show and ensured that RB Leipzig picked up the full complement of points. He got the scoring started for Leipzig with a beautifully weighted pass in behind for the club’s much-chased striker Benjamin Šeško in the 16th minute. About 20 minutes later, he made the lead secure. With Šeško played into a dangerous position off the corner of the six, Xavi found a pocket of space to receive a pass at the penalty spot and comfortably tucked it home to confirm the win and keep the Leipzig-based outfit on course for a chance to make amends in next year’s Champions League.

The bottom of the Ligue 1 table is littered with teams still nervously looking over their shoulders. But after entering the weekend rock bottom on 14 points, Le Havre knew that it was going to take a series of good results to claw their way to safety from relegation. Facing off against Lille — the last team outside Paris to win the title, and a squad battling for a place in next year’s Champions League — this weekend would not have seemed like a great chance to start that run. But a pair of goals and a stellar performance from Mathieu Gorgelin saw the underdogs get the job done.

Goals on either side of halftime gave Le Havre a 2-0 lead to hold, and Gorgelin did the rest. He made four saves on the day, none more important than a point blank headed effort from Canadian star Jonathan David late on to maintain the two-goal advantage. The save would prove crucial after a misplay by Le Havre trying to work the ball out from the back handed Lille’s Chuba Akpom the ball at the edge of the 18, all while Gorgelin was fully out of goal serving as a passing outlet. The former Arsenal youth star comfortably tucked home an uncontested finish and cut the lead in half entering 7 minutes of stoppage time. Fortunately for Le Havre, Lille never figured out how to score with Gorgelin in the net, and as just one of two bottom-seven sides to pick up any points in the match week, Le Havre moved off the floor and within just one point of the partial safety of 16th and a relegation playoff series.
